Film Fiesta Take 05

We are looking for cinematic works that are grounded, meaningful, and thoughtful, treating folklore and reality not as distant subjects but as forces that shape people and societies today.

Accepted Categories

1. Folklore-Based Narrative Fiction
   • Films rooted in myths, legends, rituals, or oral traditions
   • Stories can be traditional, modern, magical, or metaphorical, but must center on folklore as a living presence
   • Examples include films exploring Urban legends, village myths, ancestral stories, folk rituals, or the influence of oral histories on contemporary life
2. Public Awareness Docu-Fiction
   • Films that blend documentary observation with narrative storytelling
   • Focus on social issues, public education, community challenges, or cultural awareness
   • Must creatively integrate reality-based content with a folkloric or narrative lens

Submission Guidelines

Eligibility

• Submissions are open to filmmakers from anywhere in the world, of any culture, race, or language.
• Both student and independent filmmakers are eligible.
• Only short films are accepted (max 25 minutes).
• Films can be completed at any time.

Categories

FF5 accepts films under two sections only:

• Folklore Fiction
• Public Awareness Docu-Fiction

Films must clearly fit one of these categories to be considered.

Duration

Maximum runtime: 25 minutes, including opening and end credits.

Poster & Teaser Requirements

Two Posters:

• Vertical
• Horizontal

Posters must clearly display the film's title in English

Teaser:

• Duration: 25–30 seconds
• Format: MP4 (1080p preferred)

Language & Subtitles

• Films can be in any language.
• English subtitles are mandatory for all non-English films.
• Poor or missing subtitles may lead to disqualification.

Submission Format

• Films must be submitted via online screener link (Google Drive / equivalent).
• Download access must remain active until the end of the festival.
• Files should be in HD format (minimum 1080p).

Selection Process

• All submissions will be reviewed by the FF5 Selection Committee.
• Selection decisions are final and non-negotiable.
• No individual feedback will be provided for unselected films.

Curation & Selection

Film Fiesta Take 05 is a curated, non-competitive festival. Every submission will be reviewed for:

• Narrative depth and originality
• Thematic relevance to folklore and public awareness
• Cinematic intent and storytelling craft

Selected films will form a thoughtfully curated program, designed to encourage discussion, reflection, and engagement between filmmakers and audiences.

Filmmakers of selected works will be invited to participate in post-screening discussions, Adda sessions, and interactive conversations with audiences.

Submission Fee

• No fee at the time of submission.
• A nominal participation fee will be applicable ONLY for officially selected films:
  • International submissions: 10 USD
  • Bangladeshi submissions: 250-500 BDT
• Filmmakers will be notified about the fee after selection, before final confirmation.
• Unselected films are never charged

We believe filmmakers should be judged on their work, not on their ability to pay upfront.
